INTRODUCTION
Next spring Lineadarte Officina Creativa has the honour to propose the first Biennial of the Artist’s Book in Campania, so aligning with the other main European cities which have been giving visibility to this artistic practise for a long time.
The Artist Book starts with the artistic avant-gardes of the twentieth century, it is the futurist Fortunato Depero to make it an art object and to give it the dignity of a real work of art, so it could become an artistic expression. .
The essence of each artist’s book is in its uniqueness, the artist’s books are made with different techniques and materials, such as the usual paper, paperboard, cardboard, but also wood, glass, metal, plastic or debris.
The body of the artist’s book hardly moves away from the traditional format book, while the systems of assemblage and binding vary, as well as the sizes, passing from few centimetres, such as the Bruno Munari’s 10X10 booklets, to the exemplars of monumental size.
“Waiting for the Biennial of the Artist’s Book” that’s the event we are going to present, the first exhibition opening the way to the Biennial in the first autumn decades, at a prestigious building in the Neapolitan “Palazzo Merolla”, the Institutional Centre of the Culture in Marano in Naples, under the sponsorship of the Local Department of Culture.

" Waiting for the Biennial of the Artist’s Book "
The international event “Biennial of the Artist’s Book” is open to all Italian and International artists.
- - " Waiting for the Biennial of the Artist’s Book " aims to encourage and motivate the research in the Artist’s Book field.
- " Waiting for the Biennial of the Artist’s Book " divides the artists in two different sections:
Artists invited by the curators of the Biennial,
Artists selected by the artistic committee of the Biennial.
- - " Waiting for the Biennial of the Artist’s Book " will be realized in the first ten days of October, the date has to be arranged, in the prestigious “Palazzo Merolla” in the Municipality of Marano in Naples.
REGULATION
- The selection and participation is free of charge.
- To participate to the selection you have to send the photographic documentation of three artist’s books at most.
- The selected artists will participate to the event with the work or works indicated by the Committee.
- The selected works cannot be replaced otherwise you will be automatically excluded from the event.
- The artist has to send the selected works to the registered office of LineaDarte Officina Creativa -Via San Rocco 114 -80016-Marano di Napoli (NA) Italia – the costs from and to Marano in Naples are charged to the artist.
- Acquittance: The organizers, even if they are taking the greatest care for the received works, they do not assume any responsibility for any damage caused by transport, thefth, or other, during the period of the event, of the storage, of the exhibition and of the stock.
- The participants have to accept the notification clauses and to send the following documentation:
- High definition colour photographs;
- The form of participation must contain the technical data of the work;
- Declaration of the value of each work;
- Short biographical and bibliographical mentions
- The event will be publicised and spread in virtual and real newpapers.
- Advertising material will be realized such as posters and flyers.
- The Association LineaDarte Officina Creativa engages in the realization of a catalogue, free available on line and in the publication of a paper catalogue for the promotion of the event by diffusion at galleries, libraries, artistic diffusion and promotion centres
- Any artist who wishes to receive a copy of the catalogue can ask for it, against payment of 30,00 €, for a contribution to cover partially the charges, by recharging the postpay registered to Gennaro Ippolito n. 4023600559274966
- The artist authorize the Association LineaDarte Officina Creativa to publish by all means, including audiovisual, all data and images given, and he gave his explicit consent to the processing of his data in accordance with the law 675/96 and he states to be informed about his rights in accordance with the article 10 and 13 of the same law.
The documentation must be received within 20th September 2009
The paper documentation (CD,DVD, Pendrive-usb, Catalogues) must be sent to the registered office of LineaDarte Officina Creativa – Via San Rocco, 114 – 80016 Marano di Napoli (NA) – Italia
The date of the postmark will attest it.
